On-boarding the Assistant

V'Ker was in xir assigned quarters when the communication panel chirped. Xe went to Xem desk and activated the comm link.
"Your assistant has arrived in Transporter M2" the officer said.
"Send him/her to my quarters, please." V"ker replied.
"Aye, sir."
V'Ker returned to reviewing the specifications for this unique space station. It was like having the standard Class 7 space station, with two partial Class 7 modules attached to the main port with tubes.
After a few moments, xir assistant arrived and pressed the communication button. V'Ker responded "Enter." The assistant entered and paused as the door closed.
"Greetings. I am Lt Jg Clarence Johnson II. My pronouns are he, his, him and himself. To whom am I addressing?"
V'Ker studied the Lt for a moment, then replied, "I am Commander V'Ker. My pronouns are Xe, Xem, Xir, Xir and Xirself. How may I be of assistance?"
Lt Johnson smile a little, then said "It is I that will be assisting you. I have been assigned to be your ... assistant. I am an Alien Archaeologist/Anthropologist, and I will be observing you at all times, per Starfleet policy. I am sure you recall the directive, sir."
V'Ker tilted xir head to one side, then replied, "Indeed I do. You may proceed with your duties. Your quarters are adjacent to mine, and you may access them through that door." Ze pointed in the direction of the common door between the two quarters.
"Thank you, Commander." Lt Johnson exited through the common door and proceeded to familiarize himself with his surroundings.
