Learning more about engineering

Personal History Daniel Walker was born in April 2397 on a Earth near Los Angeles where his parents lived. Ian worked as a starship engineer, whilst his wife Wendy was a nurse.

Sometime in the year 2403 Wendy died leaving Ian to raise their son alone, so the boy left Earth for space with his father aboard a freighter where Ian was Chief Engineer.

Over the course of the 5 years Daniel worked alongside Ian as often as possible in engineering learning the skills of the trade of a starship engineer and was quite adept at basic tasks.

In 2408 the freighter they were aboard was on a mission into the farthest reaches of the Beta Quadrant when the Borg attacked the ship assimilating everyone on board including Daniel.

Daniel was too young to be fully assimilated he was therefore placed in a Maturation Chamber, where he would spent a total of seventeen cycles.

In 2410 Probe 842 whilst enroute to Star Base New Angel ran into an unknown particle field which at first appeared to have no effect on the vessel. Slowly but surely the particles began to disable key aspects of Probe 842 rendering the 150 or more drones aboard inoperable.

The now teenage Daniel Walker was the only drone unaffected by the unknown particle, encased in the Maturation Chamber he was immune. Sometime after the destruction of all drones aboard Daniel Walker emerged from the Maturation Chamber cut off from the Hive Mind.
